We all enjoy a good guffaw on the interweb, but when it comes to writing, the art of the joke requires serious study.  While Miss Applesassy claims no fame as a netisphere comediane, she can offer some basic lessons on the anatomy of a joke.

First comes the set up.  A sentence or two as introduction to the topic.  Then we move into the description.  Like any good essay outline, it will consist of three short sub topics.  Last is the punch line.  It should be off subject and totally unexpected.  A common mistake in joke writing is to add additional information AFTER the punch.  Do not do this.  It  diminishes the value of the joke like drinking watered down booze in a bar.
